Adam - Blessings of the Fathers

And finding there was greater happiness and peace and rest for me, I sought the blessings of the fathers. . .  (Abraham 1: 2)

Adam was a prophet, first one that we know.  In a place called Eden, he made things to grow. (song: Follow the Prophets from the LDS Children's Song Book)

Adam was truly the patriarch/father of the human family.  You can see that with the longevity of the ancient patriarchs, Adam lived long enough to know, teach, and bless his posterity all the way to Noah!  Abram couldn't have known Noah, but he certainly could have known Shem.  So Abram descended from a long line of monotheistic fathers and mothers.  Knowing this, it is easy to see why Abram describe himself as having been a "follower of righteousness" all of his life (Abraham 1:2) even though his own earthly father had fallen away into the polytheism of his neighbors.  He had extended family throughout the near east who could have had a strong influence on his life.

Abraham was a Semitic patriarch, deriving the name Semite from his ancestor, Shem.  The descendants of Shem were the only progeny of Noah who worshipped the one true God of their fathers.

God commanded Adam and Eve to "multiply and replenish the earth" (Genesis 1: 28; Moses 2: 28).  God gave the same commandment to Noah (Genesis 9:1)  He would later bless Abraham with the same thing.

Is posterity one of the "blessings of the fathers?"  I believe it is (Abraham 4: 28)
