What Happened When?

I was struck with curiosity about 10:00 PM last night wondering what was happening in each of those four major time periods represented by the horsemen.  I decided that this morning I would turn to Cleon Skousen to see what the Bible reports and who was living when.  Here's what I learned and I thought I'd perk it up with pictures:
First Period

Adam and Eve; Cain and Abel; Seth

Enoch (whose entire city of Zion was so righteous that they were translated and taken to Heaven); Methuselah

Noah and the flood; Shem, Eber; Peleg; the Earth divided; Terah (Abraham's father); pagan idol worship; Abraham

 Second Period

Abraham; Isaac; Jacob - the line of the Patriarchs; Melchizedek

Sodom and Gomorrah; Lot and Lot's wife

12 Sons of Jacob/Israel; Famine; 12 Tribes move into Egypt

Third Period

Moses; the Exodus; the Ten Commandments; 40 years in the wilderness

The Tabernacle in the Wilderness; the Ark of the Covenant; Joshua and the walls of Jericho

The reign of the judges; Samson; Eli; Samuel called to be a prophet; Saul becomes king of Israel

Fourth Period

David and Goliath; Saul seeks to kill David; Saul dies; David becomes King; Israel's days of greatness; Bathsheba; Solomon born; David dies

Solomon becomes King; Temple built; Solomon dies; civil war in Israel; the kingdom splits into the Kingdom of Judah to the south and the Kingdom of Israel to the north; years of apostasy and worship of pagan idols; war; immorality, human sacrifice (usually infants) on pagan altars

The Prophet Elijah; King Ahab and Queen Jezebel of Israel; Assyria conquers the Northern Kingdom and transports the 10 tribes to the north - loss of the 10 Tribes; the Prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lehi; the fall of Judah; Jews transported to Babylon for 70 years' captivity

The Prophets Ezekiel and Daniel; Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; Babylon falls to Persia; Cyrus, King of Persia frees the Jews to return to Jerusalem; the rebuilding of the Temple; the Greeks rise to power under Alexander the Great; the Romans rise to power under Julius Caesar; Anthony and Cleopatra; Syria conquers Judah; the Romans conquer Judah; the revolt of the Maccabees; Idumean rulers (the line of King Herod); Augustus Caesar becomes Emperor of Rome

I don't know if you were the least bit interested, but I found it very enlightening to place the Earth's ancient history on some sort of a timeline.  I am just goofy like that!

Next week, I want to do some research into the next two seals that are opened.  Hope you'll join me.

Timeline information from the following books by W. Cleon Skousen: The First Two Thousand Years; The Third Thousand Years; The Fourth Thousand Years.
